2021年11月6日（土）に、BOND-BBT MBA日本国内修了書授与式に引き続いて、「BOND-BBT MBAプログラム設立 20周年記念イベント～Re-Bondキックオフミーティング～」が開催されました。オンラインからは120名を超える現役生・修了生が参加しました。

BOND大学名誉教授を務める大前研一教授は、「皆さんには、”定年”は自分で定義するようになってもらいたいと考えています。人間は死ぬ時が終わりであり、定年が終わりではありません。世の中は常にアップデートしているので、MBA取得後も最後まで勉強して皆さんの新しい考えを世の中に伝えてほしいと思っています。コロナ禍であっても、BOND-BBT MBAプログラムはオンラインで学びを継続することが出来ました。これは皆さんにとって非常にラッキーなことです。」と語り掛けました。

そして、シンギュラリティ時代の働き方についての質問が修了生から寄せられたことに対して、「皆さんは知識だけを持って勝負する人ではなく、BOND-BBT MBAで『０から１を作る』『見えないものを見えるようにする』構想力を身に付けたはずです。そういう人たちは、シンギュラリティ時代が来てもコンピューターと違うことが出来ます。これからも、構想力や皆で考える“集合知”を発展させるなど、コンピューターが苦手とする能力を磨き続けていくことが重要です。」と答えました。

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Bond-BBT Global Leadership MBA program.

As Queensland’s Trade and Investment Commissioner for Japan, I would like to express my sincere congratulations on the 20th anniversary of the Bond-BBT Global Leadership MBA program offered by Bond University based in Queensland, Australia, in partnership with Business Breakthrough Inc. in Japan.

The State of Queensland, Australia has long been known to offer high-quality education which is essential in developing a skilled workforce. Bond University is an outstanding representation of the type of education that Queensland, Australia has to offer, with its alumni playing a key role in today’s Japanese business community.

Through its online delivery, the Bond-BBT Global Leadership MBA program has continuously enabled executives in Japan who have time and geographical constraints to engage in quality learning and be awarded a degree from Bond University upon successful completion of the program.

With the program having strengths particularly in entrepreneurship and fostering new business ideas, it has and continues to produce many business leaders who are capable in solving a range of challenges.

I am honoured and proud to send greetings for the Bond-BBT MBA programme’s 20th Anniversary, as Global Chair of the Alumni Advisory Board and a member of the first cohort of Bond Business School’s MBA programme in 1989. Having been a Rotary International Exchange recipient to Kariya-Shi, Aichi Ken in 1977, I too value the importance of studying in a different culture and the priceless experiences of being able to contribute to a better understanding of each other through student diplomacy and future proofing our global village.

The BBT Global MBA was established by Dr Kenichi Ohmae in conjunction with Bond University, as a unique, innovative, world-class MBA to nurture and develop a new generation of Japanese leaders and entrepreneurs. It has gone from strength to strength with almost 1300 graduates, who are acknowledged as global thinkers and elite business strategists. We are also grateful for the BBT’s active involvement and meaningful contributions to our loyal Bondy Alumni family, with Yasuhiro Kawane San’s energising representation on the Alumni Advisory Board.

I spent many years as an undergraduate and doctoral student learning the works of Professor Ohmae, so being involved in a program that he has led has been a great honour. I would like to share some research completed by my colleagues and myself: sustainable project-oriented careers . Increasingly, we deliver innovation and strategic value through projects; therefore, project management competencies are increasingly valued. However, in these times of digital change, how do we create sustainable careers? Our research revealed that sustainable careers depend upon two factors: i) up-skilling, and ii) networking.

Some predict that up to 85% of the jobs available in 2030 have not yet been invented! To thrive in these new jobs, we will need new skills. The Bond-BBT MBA program prepares students to lead in this new era and we welcome you to return in the future for additional studies. Professionals increase career sustainability by networking with others to give assistance, seek advice and learn about new opportunities. The ongoing success of the Bond-BBT MBA in the last 20 years is a testament to the professionals who have strived to develop and improve their knowledge further. As a teacher, the diligence and initiative of those who have decided to continue learning is humbling. Oman Krznaric (2014) notice that the most important societal problems (e.g., war and terrorism, poverty, social injustice, violence and abuse, pollution, destruction of ecosystems and climate change) arise in part from a lack of empathy. They argue that, conversely, these problems “would be greatly reduced if people felt more empathy toward one another, across space and time (i.e., future generations)” and that bringing empathy into our everyday life would “create the revolution of human relationships we so desperately need”.

I invite you all to actively contribute to this revolution by promoting caring and respectful relationships in place of destructive games, not only among your immediate contacts but also within the larger community you can impact. Following Wangari Maathai’s example, we don’t need to be discouraged by the magnitude of the task and the seemingly paltry impact we can have, but instead play our part in promoting happiness on earth! I wish you all to find lasting happiness as you help to make our world a better place.

Hello. My name is Sari Nightingale and I lecture in accounting and management control systems. I have had the privilege of mentoring BBT students in the last couple of years. I have always enjoyed the courtesy and promptness displayed by BBT students and been humbled by theirability to communicate at tertiary education level in another language. I believe education is an essential item in the growth of a community’s standard of living. It spreads knowledge and understanding. It encourages imagination and is the motivation for skills development. The long-term benefits of education improve the standard of living for all members in a community, despite being time consuming, both to the community and the student. It takes commitment from the student to manage their limited resource – time.

Education increases individual awareness of the global environment we all live in, and the finiteness of the world’s resources. Respecting how limited resources are currently consumed will determine the standard of living for future generations. International business ideologies are shifting, and with this comes the need for new methodologies on how we manage finite resources. We are all responsible and empowered to play a role in this process. This is a dynamic time for businesses as corporate strategies are now shifting towards more sustainability. In tandem with this shift comes technological developments and ethical dilemmas.

What an exciting time for managers! What an exciting time to be studying business management! The knowledge you acquire at Bond will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to be at the forefront of this movement.

What a legacy to pass onto the future. Well done current and past BBT students for committing to studying at Bond. You are now better equipped to influence the future.

僕がMBAを取得して、もう24年になろうとしています。MBAは間違いなく僕の人生を変えました。世の中を見る視界がクリアになり、コンサルタントとして働く基礎となった。多くの共感できるクライアントと仕事させていただくことができたし、それで自身の経験を増幅することができた。ただ、それであっても後悔していることがあります。理屈ではわかっていても、失敗のリスクを恐れすぎたこと。子供いて家庭もあり、失敗を恐れて実行を踏みとどまったことは何度もありました。コンサルタントとして客観的な意見を述べることと、カネや時間を張って商売することは、やはり違うのです。その意味では、もっと自己の商売をすればよかった。身銭を切らないと研ぎ澄まされない感覚が、確かにあるのです。

人生100年と言っても、やはり人生は短い。既に感じていると思いますが、時間の経つ速度は加速度的増加します。人生の前半に行ったことは、人生の後半に影響を及ぼしていくし、人生前半に取れるリスクは人生後半に取れるリスクよりはるかに大きいはずです。失敗することよりも、失敗しないことの代償の方が大きすぎる。

ですから、やりたい商売をしましょう。しかも、早くやりましょう。MBAであれば共感していただけると思うのですが、商売をしている感覚ほど楽しいものはないのですから。

稲田 知己 講師

秋の七草のすすきと、まんまるの団子を供えながら、８年ぶりに満月となった「中秋の名月」を愛でたのはついこの間であったが、すでに冬のような冷風を感じる日も増え、晩秋も近いようだ。異常気象が続く中でも四季を感じられるのは、ありがたいことだと思う。人生も四季にたとえられる――玄冬、青春、朱夏、白秋。BOND-BBT MBAプログラムが２０周年という喜ばしい節目を迎えたということは、第一回卒業生として４０代で修了した私は、いまやさしずめ「白秋」だろうか。いやいや、人生１００年時代であるのだから、まだ「朱夏」と考えておきたい。多くの後輩各位はまだまだ「青春」真っ只中であろう。謳歌していただきたい。

人生を豊かに過ごすには、やりたいことをすべてやって悔いを残さないこと、との恩師の教えを守って、退職後も仕事をしながら、趣味を楽しんでいる。若い頃からこれまでに、テニス、草野球、スキー、ゴルフ、釣り、家庭菜園などにのめり込んできた。最も長く続いている家庭菜園は４０年ほどになる。そしてこの数年で新たな趣味となり「はまって」いるのがスイミングだ。小さいころ水泳は苦手でほとんど泳げないいわゆる「金槌」であったのだが、ちょっとしたきっかけで始めてみて、ようやく四つの泳法でなんとか沈まないようになった。スイミングのポイントは体幹を鍛えることであり、ストリームライン（蹴伸び）を維持する練習を繰り返し行う。そのお陰で、姿勢が良くなり、肩こり、肩や膝の痛みなどもなくなった。体が動く限りは一生続けたいと思っている。体の根幹をしっかりさせることの重要さを、遅ればせながらスイミングを通してようやく理解した次第である。

山上憶良が詠んだとされる秋の七草の最初に「萩」がある。落葉低木で花も葉も枯れてしまうが、木質化した幹から若芽が生えてくるという。幹さえしっかりしていれば、新たなチャレンジをいつまでも続けられるという示唆と思いたい。自分の「幹」をしっかり鍛えること、そして悔いを残さないために「やりたいことをすべてやって」、これからの人生を楽しんでいただきたいと願うばかりである。

テイラー 雅子　講師

BOND-BBT MBAプログラムが設立２０周年を迎えた今年、開講当初のことを思い返しました。当時の日本では「経営学」や「ＭＢＡ」という観念が浸透しておらず、欧米から経営学の理論やロジックを日本に持ち込む先鞭を切ったプログラムがBOND-BBT MBAでした。またオンライン開催で世界各国からの受講を可能にしたのも非常に革新的な試みでした。担当させていただいた人材マネジメント分野の講義では、「組織行動とＨＲの違いは何？」という点を事務局と議論するところからスタートしました。開講中は「目から鱗」「新たな発見！」という言葉がディスカッションで飛び交い、粗削りながら非常に熱い議論が繰り返されました。あれから２０年が経ち日本でも経営学が広く研究学習されるようになった結果、受講生の皆様の専門知識が飛躍的に増え、多様な経験をされた方々が集まることにより講義へのアプローチはとても洗練されてきました。そんな中、開講当初から一貫して変わらないのは、BOND-BBT MBAの提供価値です。このプログラムで培われるのは、知識や技術ではなく人生を豊かにする思考法です。「常識」に疑問を持ち、「当たり前」をチャレンジし、新しい着眼点と革新的な発想を持って人生を開拓していく力を養成する、そこにこのプログラムの価値があります。さらに、BOND-BBT MBAの在校生・卒業生そして事務局や講師を含めたコミュニティの一員となることも大きな宝となるはずです。この力を肝に、これからも世界の様々なシーンで皆様が常識を破り新たな価値を生み出していかれることを楽しみにしています。

人間は基本的な性向として、同じような属性や価値観・パーソナリティーを有する個人との接触を好む傾向にあります。これをホモフィリーといいます。しかしながら、自身の属性や価値観・パーソナリティーと異なる人と接点をより多く持つことは、自身が有するものとは異なる新たな情報・知識の獲得やネットワークの広がりをもたらすことで、より高い個人のパフォーマンスにつながることがビジネス、学術、芸術など様々な世界で科学的に実証されています。

ホモフィリーにより自分のなじみの場所に行ったり同じような属性の人に会ったりすることを人は好みます。逆に、そうでないような場所や人との接点を持つことに心理的な抵抗を持つ人も多いでしょう。しかしながら、その心理的抵抗を超えて、今まで行ったことのない、時には自分の興味の関心とは外れるような会合や講演会にあえて行ってみてください。極端な話、ランダムに選んでも構いません。自身の関心の外にある場での出会いが、皆さんに新たな知識や情報、そしてネットワークの広がりをもたし、今後のキャリアを豊かにすることでしょう。
